Friendly Staff - Typical Starbucks fare.
This place used to be the Federal Cigar store, and is long, deep, but not very wide. Therein lies the problem with the layout. There are some comfy chairs near the front of the restaurant, and people who land in them tend to stay there. It's a friendlier place than some of the neighboring competitors, and the coffee is very good and changes through the years. 60 percent of the time I go here, 15 percent to Dunkin Donuts, 20 percent to the other Starbucks in Portsmouth, and 5 percent to BNG. The food at BNG is made on premises, but the coffee is inconsistent there.
I like this Starbucks. They go out of their way to know the customers.

Seattle-based coffee chain lures caffeine addicts with upscale roasts, caramel frappuccinos, shaken iced teas and an extra shot of trendiness..
In Short
For many, getting their daily jolt of java has become a daily morning ritual, and the cardboard cup with its infamous green label is the close companion of every coffee aficionado. Busy baristas work seamlessly behind the bar, juggling orders for their strongly-brewed drips and signature hot and cool beverages. While providing a wide selection of coffee specialties, pastries and various coffee related goods, patrons are invited to settle down in comfy armchairs and enjoy their favorite brews amid the chatter of the laidback yet caffeinated crowd.

I like coffee, but sometimes Starbucks just cannot do the trick..
Though I much prefer giving my cash to a local coffee shop, the Portsmouth Starbucks is stuffy and not the greatest experience I've had at a Starbucks cafe.
Firstly, there isn't enough seating and if there are free seats, they are usually quite dirty or the tables are soiled. The entire space is a bit too small for the usual starbucks setting, which could be really nice if the feeling was intimate, but it isn't.
Lines come and go, sometimes stretching to the door and the employees seem to pressure you to hurry up and make a drink. In addition, three times our of five, they usually make the wrong drink.
Well, at least Starbucks tries, right? I mean, they do give me a good temperature when I ask for an extra hot latte, but, something just doesn't add up at this particular Starbucks.
