Horrible Service and Food- Lived up to it's Bad Reputation.
I recently moved back to Dover after several years away and was excited to see what appeared to be an upscale restaurant in the center of town. Despite being warned by several friends in the area that Blue Latitudes was "not that good" I went in for a salad and a cold beer on a hot summer night. The draft beer was flat and warm and took about 15 minutes to get, but the Iceberg Wedge salad was good so I opted to try this restaurant again. What a disappointment. My Grilled Scallops Oscar was horrible and luke warm. The scallops overcooked and rubbery- the "risotto" was gummy and more like a rice pudding than anything resembling a risotto. When I asked for a side of mashed potatoes instead- they were even worse- tasted like a left-over baked potato that had been smushed up and reheated in a Microwave. My dining companion had a seafood pasta which he said was "just okay" but edible. The worst part was the lack of concern for my stated displeasure with my dish. I barely touched it and when I requested that it be removed from the bill I was told no. I was told that I could have ordered something in place of it but that it was against restaurant policy to take it off the bill- unfortunately by the time I was made aware of this option it was too late. We were on our way out. For the price, Blue Latitude is WAY WAY below par. Restaurant was not properly temperaure controlled. I was told that the A/C never gets cold b/c the doors to the patio are left open for the conveneience of the wait staff serving the patio. Who's comfort is being considered here? Certainly not he patrons.
I wrote a letter to the chef/owner several weeks ago expressing my dissatisfaction and have received no response.
I travel for my job and eat in nice restaurants all the time. For the price and service I would NOT recommend Blue Latitudes. Try Kelly's Row just across the way- Good Food and Service- More casual but MUCH Better in every way.
