"A Complete Pleasure... and I should know!".
From start to finish, reservation call to walking out the door, the entire evening was a complete pleasure.
I had guests in town that I really wanted to please who drove a distance and preferred to dine locally.
We arrived at 7:20 for our 7:30 reservation, and were seated promptly and with a choice of two tables. We chose the cozy booth by the fireplace (Nice atmosphere) .
Here are the highlights: Amazing bread... served with an herbed cheese spread.. yummy.. we requested butter too and were quickly accomodated.. delicious wines... two of us ordered filets.. both PERFECTLY cooked... which is no small feat- it is not easy to get a pink, juicy, hot, kinda red MEDIUM.... which is what we got, as ordered. The third person ordered Salmon. I tasted... PERFECTLY cook- and Wild Northwestern.. not farmed. The
Broccoli special side, and the spinach side.. both great. The asparagus is usually wonderful too.
The crabcake appetizer was tasty and spicy, although a bit salty for my taste (and I really like salt!)
The mashed potatoes are not amazing... I've had them several times and they are just ok... hard to describe... a little dry maybe? Not bad, but have had better (even at home).
All in all.. I have to say, I was VERY impressed. I travel for work, and eat out WAY TOO OFTEN to enjoy it if it is not that good, but tonight was really wonderful.
The staff was welcoming, accomodating and gracious- the menu diverse, the food perfectly prepared.
Try the homemade worchestershire sauce... not at all like out of the bottle... yum.
I strongly recommend visiting the Orchard Street Chop House. I'm one of those "fussy restaurant types" and I thought it was really good, as did my guests. I will definitely be back, and hope I will continue to be impressed enough that this will become my local favorite! I see potential...
