Editorial Review for Back Bay Farm – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Located in the Back Bay of Ipswich, the attitude here indicates it is a barn for the elite. While its hunter/jumper lessons, in which it specializes, are allegedly open to beginners and experts alike, it's clear that this isn't the type of stable you just walk into. The three-year-old establishment offers both indoor and outdoor arenas. And of course, after lessons, riders are invited to "hack around," in the polo field.

Back Bay is a beautiful stable with a excellent "horse people." Unfortunately, we (and others) found the instruction somewhat impersonal. For the newer and younger riders, we felt the child needs to be able to take "direct feedback" (which is not an issue with older students) vs. a more nurturing environment. For a strong rider who really wants to excel, this is most likely a good match.

Pros: Excellent Technical Instructors, Grounds

Cons: Difficult amount of feedback for early riders. needs a little more "fun"

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Back Bay Farm is not, as the description says, purely for the elite. It is a highly professional teaching facility that does wonders for riders of all ages and abilities. We have been extremely satisfied with the progress our child has made there. We found Back Bay Farm after investigating several other area riding facilities, and feel that they have no equal in this region.

Pros: Professional, Organized, Welcoming
