Omni fitness of Portsmouth delivered a high-end ($3200.00) elliptical trainer to our home, selling it off as new when it was actually a used floor model. The store manager, Brad, denied knowledge that it was a floor model though he was the one who gave it to the delivery people from his store. When I recognized the same scuff I saw in the store I called him on it and he finally admitted it was indeed the floor model. Because by this time it was already set up in our home we reluctantly agreed to keep it for $360.00 off after Brad’s insistence it was “like new” and in perfect working order. It did not work the first time we tried to use it, they replaced the computer and it broke again after less then 90 minutes of use. When we said we want a new one not the used one, Brad said it is a discontinued model and we need to either keep it and keep getting it fixed or they can pick it up, refund our money and he will sell it to someone else. We discussed it and told him the next day we decided to return it, he said he made that offer in error and his district manager told him there is a no return policy on floor models!!! We didn’t want one to begin with!!! He refused to give us the number to his immediate supervisor so we needed to find the corporate customer relations number for Omni fitness ourselves and had to get our credit card company involved before we could get satisfaction. I prefer to keep my money in my own local economy but was forced to buy out of town because of the practices of the Portsmouth store. All this could have been avoided if he would have only been up front and honest from the start.
